![]() Larry Fillmer Executive Director Institute of Natural Resources Leading the organization of the new AU Natural Resources Management & Development Institute is Larry Fillmer, an AU alumnus with 35 years of experience in managing large, complex organizations. Mr. Fillmer is a 1969 graduate of the AU College of Business with a degree in Business Administration; he also holds a master’s degree in Industrial Management from the University of Alabama. Upon graduating from Auburn University, he received his commission in the USAF, serving seven years and attaining the rank of Captain. Fillmer joined the Auburn staff in 2005 as a development director for major gifts and corporate relations and had previously led the I-85 Corridor Alliance, an economic development effort for Alabama. Prior to that, Fillmer made his mark on the business world, working with several technology corporations. During the early years of his career, Fillmer worked with AT&T and South Central Bell, managing the development and implementation of operational support systems during the divestiture of the Regional Bell Operating Companies from AT&T. Fillmer joined the Amdahl Corporation in 1985 as Director of Business and Strategic Planning for the Communications Systems Division. During his 18 years with the company, Fillmer was responsible for the transformation of Amdahl from a fully integrated provider of mainframe computers and services to the establishment of Fujitsu Technology Solutions, Inc., an open systems technology company offering Fujitsu UNIX servers, managed services, and project consulting services. Throughout his tenure with Amdahl and Fujitsu, Fillmer held a variety of executive management and marketing positions, including Senior Vice President and later President and CEO of the Antares Alliance Group, a software joint venture between Amdahl and EDS. In May 2000, he assumed additional duties as Amdahl’s Vice President for Services Operations, responsible for customer support and multi-vendor managed services worldwide. He was named President and CEO of Amdahl IT Services and Fujitsu Technology Solutions in November 2001 and retired from the company in January 2004. |
